Potassium Sorbate
A widely used broad-spectrum preservative effective against yeasts, moulds, and some bacteria. Available as a fine white granular powder, potassium sorbate is the potassium salt of sorbic acid and is valued in cosmetic formulation for its mild profile, good water solubility, and compatibility across a broad range of formula types.
Most effective at acidic to neutral pH (≤6.5), and commonly used in combination with other preservatives or pH-adjusting systems to achieve a robust preservation strategy.
