Candelilla Wax

Candelilla Wax is a natural wax obtained from the leaves and stems of the candelilla shrub, a plant native to Mexico and the southwestern United States. The wax is extracted by boiling the plant material and filtering out the resulting solid, giving a raw material that behaves in a similar way to beeswax but comes entirely from a plant source rather than an animal one.

In its raw material state, Candelilla Wax typically appears as small, hard granules or beads, ranging from pale to deep yellow depending on how refined it is. It has a notably high melting point compared with many other cosmetic waxes, generally sitting well above 60 degrees celsius, which makes it particularly effective at holding a firm, stable structure in a finished product.
